The Hurt Locker bags Best Picture award in 2010 Oscars

The Iraq-war drama, The Hurt Locker, not only beat James Cameron’s half-a-billion-dollar epic Avatar, its director Kathryn Bigelow also made history by being the first woman to win the Best Director prize.  Bigelow happens to be Cameron’s ex-wife.

The other big winners earlier today at the 82nd Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences show were: Sandra Bullock, Best Actress for The Blind Side; Mo’Nique, Best Supporting Actress (Precious); Jeff Bridges, Best Actor (Crazy Heart); and Christoph Waltz, Best Supporting Actor (Inglourious Basterds).

All four won for the first time.

The show was held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.
