YouTube Direct supports citizen journalists

you tubeYouTube has launched a new tool, called You Tube Direct, that aims to establish a connection between news organizations and citizen journalists with video clips on a variety of subjects.

YouTube Direct will allow people to upload footage they think might be useful for news organizations, and will make it easy for editors, producers and journalists to contact them.

It is not just the extreme behavior of celebrities that will be making immediate news. With wars, accidents, calamities and other oddities happening in our interconnected world, many news outlets will be seeking for footages of videos that will make an instant and sensational news.

Steve Grove, head of news and politics at YouTube said: “It’s an incentive to upload great video, because of the recognition you’ll get from legitimate news organisation.”
