Mother Teresa and Katherine Hepburn honored in 2010 stamps

The U.S. Postal Service has announced that the images of Nobel laureate Mother Teresa and Hollywood actress Katherine Hepburn will appear in 2010 mail stamps.

It has been a yearly tradition of this agency to put out stamps honoring either important persons or momentous events and even geographic landmarks.

Mother Teresa, an ethnic Albanian Roman Catholic nun, widely known for ministering to the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying in India, will appear on the stamp wearing her customary shawl and smiling.

On the other hand, Katherine Hepburn’s appearance is part of the Postal Service’s tribute to “Legends of Hollywood” stamp  series. Her postal image comes from her 1940 publicity photo.

Hepburn is a four-time Best Actress Oscar winner.
