Mike Tyson detained at airport after hitting photographer

Former boxing champ Mike Tyson was taken into custody by Los Angeles airport police for allegedly hitting a photographer who was following him.

The irate Tyson, 43, was reported to have given the photographer a clean punch that sent the latter flat on his face to the floor injuring his forehead.

According to police Sgt. Jim Holcomb, the fracas occurred at the United Airlines ticket counter.

While investigation was conducted, Tyson was secured in a holding cell at the airport police station.

Both Tyson and the photographer, who was brought to the hospital for treatment of a cut on his forehead, said they intend to file battery charges against one another.
