Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ grosses $200M in two weeks
Michael Jackson’s concert movie This Is It has exceeded the $200 million mark at the box office worldwide in its first two-week run, Sony Pictures claimed.
The film grossed $61 million in the United States, and more than $140 million overseas — including $27.2 million in Japan, $14.3 million in Great Britain, and $12.1 million in Germany.
According to industry tracker boxofficemojo.com, “This Is It now ranks 22nd among the highest movie earners in the world for 2009.
The film captures Jackson’s final performances as he rehearsed for his aborted concert tour. It has Jackson doing such hits as Beat It, Thriller, Human Nature and Billie Jean, among many other songs.
Jackson died last June, just weeks before his marathon of 50-concert tour was to begin in London.
