Feuding Puma and Adidas finally unite for peace

AdidasAfter 60 years of estranged relationship, Puma and Adidas, two German sportswear companies founded by brothers Rudolf and Adi Dassler have decided to let bygones be bygones and shake hands in support of One Day Peace celebration on Sept. 21.

This will be the first time the two competing companies will celebrate the annual non-violence day in harmonious relationship since the brothers split in 1948, and established their own firms on separate sides of a river in southern Germany.

Puma and Adidas were said to be the only major employers then in the cobblestoned Bavarian town of Herzogenaurach, and the residents found themselves with their loyalty divided also between Rudolf and Adi.

Neither company is now controlled and managed by offsprings of the original Dassler brothers.

Owners of luxury Gucci products now own majority shares of Puma, while Adidas is more of a public enterprise.
