In an interview with CNN, former first lady Laura Bush praised President Barack Obama’s performance, saying he has done well considering the difficult conditions he has to work with.
She defended Obama’s resolve to make a speech to the nation’s schoolchildren. ”I think there is a place for the president…to talk to schoolchildren and encourage their parents to encourage their own children to stay in school and to study hard and to try to achieve the dream that they have,” Bush said.
However, she disapproved of the extreme partisan politics in the nation’s capital in an interview that tackled various topics, including what she thought of the president’s wife Michelle, the ex-vice president Dick Cheney, the state of affairs in Myanmar and Afghanistan, and her own situation after the eight-year term of her husband George as president of the United States.
