Simon Cowell says American Idol new season is different

In an interview with Extra’s Terri Seymour, American Idol judge Simon Cowell said the chemistry between the American Idol judges is now different.

“Its like comparing a carrot to a banana,” he told the show.  “They are different. ”

Former judge Paula Abdul left the show after Season 8.  “I stand on principle where many people stand on money,” Abdul told TV Guide.  Abdul recently filmed two episodes of Lifetime’s comedy series Drop Dead Diva.  She will also host VH1’s  Divas Live later this month.

There are speculations as to possible replacements for Abdul.  Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne were recruited as  guest judges on Season 9 auditions.

Season 9 will air in January 2010.
